Cedar Stream Social: Disconnecting and Deleting Your Data

This page explains how to disconnect Cedar Stream Social from your Facebook, Instagram or Google account, and how to have the data it holds deleted. Everything here applies immediately unless a time is stated.

What the service holds

For each connected account, our hub holds an encrypted access token, the identifier and name of the Page, account or listing you chose, and records of the posts we published there. Your drafts and published posts are also stored on your own website, which you control. The full list, with how long each item is kept, is in section 4 of our Privacy Policy.

1. Disconnect one channel

In your WordPress admin, open Social Queue, then Settings, and click Disconnect next to the account.

What happens: the access token is revoked with Facebook or Google and deleted from our hub straight away. Posts scheduled for that channel are cancelled. Our records of posts already published there lose their Facebook, Instagram or Google identifiers. Your drafts and the posts stored on your website are untouched, and the posts already live on the platform stay there unless you delete them on the platform.

2. Remove the app in your Facebook or Google settings

You can also remove our access from the platform side.

  • Facebook: Settings and privacy, then Settings, then Apps and websites. Find Cedar Stream Social and choose Remove.
  • Instagram: Settings, then Website permissions, then Apps and websites. Find Cedar Stream Social and choose Remove.
  • Google: myaccount.google.com, then Security, then Your connections to third-party apps and services. Find Cedar Stream Social and remove its access.

Facebook and Google notify us when you do this, and we delete the connection exactly as in step 1.

3. Ask Meta to send us a deletion request

After removing the app on Facebook, the same Apps and websites screen lets you send a request to delete the data the app holds about you. Meta sends that request to us automatically.

What happens: we delete every Facebook and Instagram connection linked to your Facebook account, together with its tokens and post identifiers, and record the deletion. Meta then shows you a confirmation code and a link to a status page on our hub, at:

https://api.social.cedarstreammedia.com/connect/meta/deletion-status?code=YOUR-CODE

The status page tells you what was deleted and when. Keep the confirmation code. If the status page does not recognise it, email the code to info@cedarstreammedia.com and we will look into it.

4. Delete your whole account

To remove everything the service holds about your business, email info@cedarstreammedia.com from the email address on file with the subject “Delete my Cedar Stream Social account”. We confirm within two business days and offer you an export of your posts, approvals and delivery history first. Deletion is complete within seven days of your confirmation.

What is deleted: your business profile, every post and image held on the hub, every access token, your usage counters and your settings.

What remains: a single record that the account existed and the date it was deleted, and any invoices we are required to keep for accounting.

What deletion does not do

  • It does not delete posts already published on Facebook, Instagram or Google. Delete those on the platform.
  • It does not delete the drafts and posts stored on your own website. They are yours. Deleting the plugin from WordPress removes its settings and secrets, and asks whether you also want to remove its content.
